The Regenerative Medicine Interdisciplinary Program at Cal Poly was created in 2009 with support from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) with the goal of continuing Cal Poly’s tradition of graduating day-one ready professionals for the burgeoning Regenerative Medicine/Biotech Industry. With a year of coursework and project experience followed by a paid full-time 10-month internship, we have prepared graduates of our MS Program for careers in research and development, biologics manufacturing, and translational research since the Class of 2011. With recently-awarded support from CIRM, we are expanding this effort into the undergraduate level, with novel hands-on coursework, a formal mentoring program, and a paid full-time summer internship or summer-fall co-op for students who are underrepresented in the biotech industry. We are an interdisciplinary program, founded by faculty from Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, and Animal Science who draw on our complementary skills to continually refine our comprehensive training programs.
