Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures
Who We Are
In 2000, a group of individuals formed a not-for profit organization called Nebraskans for Research (NFR). The group wanted to serve as a positive voice in support of medical research in Nebraska.
In 2007, philanthropist Richard Holland helped form Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures (NCLC). This new organization was made up of business, education, and community leaders who shared the same goals as Nebraskans for Research. The two organizations joined and took the name Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures.
What We Do
We concentrate on two key areas: education and support of research. Since 2000, we’ve worked to support the efforts and accomplishments of Nebraska-based medical researchers, science educators and young collegiate scientists. In particular, we have advocated for stem cell research, therapies and cures in Nebraska. Under our new name – Nebraska Coalition for Lifesaving Cures – we continue to advocate awareness across the state for the accomplishments of Nebraska-based medical research and the improvement in people’s lives that research provides. Stem cell research, a relatively new breakthrough, holds the promise of providing treatments and cures for many diseases – including diabetes, Parkinson’s and spinal cord injuries – that alone, affect thousands of Nebraskans.
