Tissue engineering seeks to restore, maintain, improve, or replace damaged tissues and organs via the combination of cells, scaffolds, and/or biologically active molecules. With wide-ranging indications and inherent complexities, tissue-engineering developers face both exciting possibilities and unique challenges. On September 6, 2023, ARM hosted our first workshop on Tissue Engineering and Therapeutics, aiming to provide this rapidly advancing field with a voice in the regenerative medicine sector. The goals were to provide examples of the scientific advances in the field, obtain insights from developers and regulators on chemistry, manufacturing, and controls considerations for the industry, and explore funding and market opportunities. The following whitepaper outlines the key takeaways from the workshop.
